Joining Protect the Bush Alliance and contributing towards the protection of habitat has been an amazing opportunity. As a young conservation scientist, I have gained practical skills and self-confidence through working alongside like-minded professionals, communities, and landowners. The skills I have gained and conversations I have had since joining PTBA has enhanced my drive to assist with conservation efforts throughout Queensland. Since working with PTBA, I have seen how effective it is to contribute resources and support communities and their local environments.

I have been contributing my botanical knowledge during field surveys undertaken by PTBA for over ten years.
This is what I love doing. I am pleased that I can contribute to conservation actions in a really practical and important way. It is invaluable to encourage young scientists to identify trees and plants. We all enjoy the opportunity PTBA provides to work in various landscapes and as a team working to achieve positive outcomes.

At the outset, the time I spent surverying birds and mammals in and around Kingaroy seemed like another fun trip doing what I love most and, even better, was gor a good cause. I’m elated with the far-reaching impact those surveys had on this rich ecological community, which will continue to exist intact into the future, and on the people of Kingaroy.
How To Get Involved
PTBA values contributions from volunteers with a wide range of skills.
Some of our volunteers focus their efforts on desktop work, such as writing reports, reviewing EA and EIS reports, writing media alerts and contributing to our newsletter. Other volunteers head outdoors, assisting with biodiversity monitoring.
